EPATT Summer 2021 was like no other! Not only did EPATT launch several new programs, but the tennis team grew, and we cultivated new and exciting community partnerships.
Our elementary school students explored local Peninsula flora and fauna by trekking through the Baylands, San Mateo and Santa Clara County parks, and logging over 600 miles of walking and fitness activities.
We offered 7 weeks of free community tennis camps for students of all ages. The tournament team players competed in USTA tournaments, local inter-club matches, fitness runs, community service and attended Kid’s Day at the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic professional women’s tennis tournament.
In partnership with local rugby clubs, we launched the first-ever Girls Rugby and College Readiness Summer Camp. Students participated in many enriching activities including weekly fitness at the Riekes Center, EPATT tennis, and rugby; Achieve3000, life skills classes, and local college tours.
Middle School students read books, received weekly tutoring, and increased their college and career readiness all while improving their tennis skills and fitness. They also had the opportunity to earn weekly field trips and visit the Riekes Center to learn music, art, nature studies, and proper workout techniques.
Our incoming high school students got a crash course on what high school will be like and expectations. During our weekly meetings, we discussed college and career readiness and study skills. In preparation for 9th grade, students received weekly tutoring. Students also participated in community service with Second Harvest in East Palo Alto. Our incoming seniors also benefited from our summer offerings. Seniors got a head start on their college applications and personal statements.
Overall, the EPATT summer program was safe, engaging, impactful, and helped students and families explore their interests and make progress toward their goal of college and career readiness!
