Teacher Communication

The most important aspect of meetings with teachers is being prepared to meet. Here are some tips for getting information you'll need for a successful meeting with your child’s teacher. 

Before you approach the teacher, review the following:

- Your notes from past parent-teacher conferences

- Any available report cards and test scores

- Any available progress reports (from school and from EPATT)

- Tutor logs from EPATT

Also, make time to do the following: 

THINK THROUGH YOUR CHILD’S…

•Education  How much do you know about your child’s school and school district and whether your child’s trajectory is towards a career or a job?

•Skills What skills is your child acquiring through his/her education at that school? What skills are they acquiring at home?

HAVE A TALK WITH YOUR CHILD ABOUT THEIR…

•Interests What do they like to do? What could they do for hours if no one bothered them? Is their interest conducive to learning?

•Goals  What are some plans that they have for their health? For relationships in family and friendships? For their education?

•Vision for themselves in the future: What do they want to become in the future?  How would they like to change the world?

•Education  What does he think he is learning? What would he like to learn?  If he could design a school specifically for him, what would it have and why? What does he  think would be the best school ever?

•Skills What does your child think she is good at? What specific skills does she have?  What skills would she like to develop?

Come up with some of your own questions.   

ONCE YOU’VE GATHERED ENOUGH INFORMATION, PREPARE FOR YOUR PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES AND SCHEDULE YOUR OWN MEETINGS!

   Be sure you are not attending your meetings empty-handed.  Have your questions ready and make sure you leave with all questions answered!

COMMUNICACIÓN CON MAESTROS

El aspecto mas importante cuando uno se va a reunir con el maestro(a) es de estar preparado para reunirse.  Aquí hay unos consejos para obtener la información que necesitaras para tener una reunion exitosa con el maestro(a).  

Antes de hablar con el maestro(a), revise lo siguiente:

• Sus notas/apuntes de la ultima conferencias de maestro/padre (parent/teacher conference)

• Las calificaciones (report card)

• Los reportes de progreso de EPATT y la escuela (progress report)

• Los reportes de tutoria de EPATT (Tutor Logs)

También, haga tiempo para hacer lo siguiente:

• PIENSE A TRAVÉS DE SU HIJO…

  • Educación (Cuanto sabe sobre la escuela de su hijo y el distrito escolar, y si la trayectoria es hacia una carrera o trabajo?)

  • Habilidades (Qué habilidades su hijo está adquiriendo a través de su educación en la escuela? Que habilidades adquiere en casa?)

• TENGA UNA CONVERSACIÓN CON SU HIJO SOBRE SU…

  • Intereses (Qué le gusta hacer? Qué pueden hacer por horas sin que nadie los moleste? Su interés es algo proporciona o es educativo?)

  • Metas (Qué planes ellos tienen por su salud? Con sus relaciones con familia y amistades? Para su educación?

  • Visión de si mismos en el futuro (Qué quieren ser/hacer en ele futuro? Como les gustaría cambiar el mundo?

  • Educación (Qué es lo que ellos piensan que están aprendiendo? Qué les gustaría aprender? Si ellos pudieran crear una escuela diseñados para ellos, que es lo que tendrá y porque? Qué piensan ellos que será la mejor escuela?)

  • Habilidades (En que piensan que ellos son buenos?) Que habilidades ellos piensan que tienen? Que habilidades les gustaría tener o desarrollar?)

  • Venga con sus propias preguntas

¡UNA VEZ QUE HA REUNIDO SUFICIENTE INFORMACIÓN, PREPARARSE PARA TENER SU CONFERENCIA DE PADRES Y MAESTROS Y PROGRAME SUS PROPIAS REUNIONES!
